This class will help you decide if cloth diapering is correct for you and prepare you to be a pro at using cloth diapers. We will explain the differences and benefits of various types of cloth diapers, including prefolds, fitted, pocket, one-size, and all-in-ones. You will get a chance to see each type as well as check out the leading brands of modern cloth diapers on the market today. We will also discuss how to launder cloth diapers and manage "output". Parents who carry their children can nurture and soothe them hands-free. This class will help you choose a baby carrier that fits your personality and lifestyle; various styles from frame backpacks to wraps to asian-style carriers will be discussed and demonstrated. Participants will also have the opportunity to try the various carriers themselves. If you already have a carrier you'd like to learn to use (or use better!), feel free to bring it. Thursday, June 25th, 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM: Infant CPR/Choking, Learn how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and choking from a certified instructor. This course teaches parents how to recognize and care for choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants up to 12 months of age from a certified American Heart Association instructor. Learn when to perform CPR and identifying a concious choking victim as well as an unconcious choking victim and how to prevent these emergencies. Monday, June 29th, 7 PM to 9:15 PM: Empowering Childbirth-BEFORE BIRTH, Empowering Childbirth with Michelle-Nicholle Calareso is an eleven week class that focuses on communication, practical skills, comfort techniques, connecting with support during and after labor, while at the same time creating a community for you and your baby. This series is a two part class; the first seven weeks focus on practical skills and communication so that one has an empowering birth and postpartum experience. After the babies are born, the group resumes to discuss the transition to parenthood, breastfeeding, sleep options, and maintaining meaningful adult connections. In Michelle-Nicholle`s 11 week birth and postpartum series the trust and new relationships formed when expecting one`s child have the opportunity to flourish once the babies are born.
